Everything around us is considered a work of art. The things you own, you see in everyday life are a work of art, whether you meant them to be or not. Art is not only in sculptures ,paintings and photographs..it could be in a building, a sign or in nature itself. Think about how inventors and creators of the past combined technology with art, like Leonardo da Vinci. Scrap metal artist are no different. They take everyday items and create the vision they want to see, and in turn what we may see and ultimately create something useful and beautiful.

When you see a piece that moves you, at times we don’t understand what about it gives it that appeal. One thing we do know, those who enjoy art, whether is paintings or scrap metal artist works, we understand what it takes to achieve the work. Hours, days, weeks and sometimes years to produce something the human eye can appreciate and absorb or understand in the end. Though most scrap metal artist seem to have an idea in mind of the ultimate piece of work, the reality is that it’s a journey from the beginning. Most artist will tell you the piece of art they created is far different than the result.

Some scrap metal artist work in other mediums, like John Lopez, who started working in clay on his South Dakota ranch, but over the years has become a well known and respect scrap metal artist with pieces found all over the world. In China, welder Wang Liansheng creates movie quality renderings from his home using scrap metal.  This amateur artist now creates works with his son and charges upwards of $160,000 for his works.

Other scrap metal artist can be found in the furniture industry as well as automotive. Over the course of the next year we will explore these different ares of art, and we just might find something that catches our eye and our imaginations.
